Ukee Ocean at Ucluelet

The second piece I started was the ocean at Ucluelet, BC, on Vancouver Island, where I visited last summer. Locals call it Ukee so the title would be "Ukee Ocean".

The composition is simple and maybe even boring. But I was impressed with the deep color of ocean and reflections of setting sun light hitting from the right hand side. Will try painting that with this piece.

Koi Poind at a Samurai House in Kanazawa

After finishing Chetco Point I started two paintings at the same time. This is one of them. It's from a picture I took in Kanazawa, Japan in Sep when I visited a Samurai house and was impressed by a Koi Pond in a backyard garden.
Just working on drawing problems right now to place the shapes at the right positions. I haven't painted anything man-made a while (more than 10 years?) so maybe challenging for me.

Shifting to the right rock

Getting a little tired of working on the left rock. So shift the focus and started working on the right side.

Refining value contrast and shapes on the left rock

Still focusing on the left rock defining shapes of darker parts. That would define positive shapes as the result. At this moment not much worrying about the final colors on the rock. Values are more important than that.
