So I keep telling me to have strong outlines with this painting. I redrew the outlines but with thicker blush, #6?, so that I don't have to keep changing them. This is all about rocks and almost no vegetation. Lines and edges are very sharp most part.<br /><p></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795173754426406396.post-49139915633514781932021-09-03T22:15:00.000-07:002021-09-03T22:15:06.831-07:00Central OR Coast Visit<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6cxDHGxsxe8RzEcxbfMtabrBpQ61EmORLx9o3AqgZp9ZlW1qT371wPTNpXPRV4xoFamCyt5k0Qd3MuBFtdQN1yYOnWcwZ5Leo813Ug5rVnTv1WIp8wcAisPzI-Ig39IJ-pqd5uU8xsZQ/s1200/20210903NeptuneStateScenicViewpointOnsite.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="853" data-original-width="1200" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6cxDHGxsxe8RzEcxbfMtabrBpQ61EmORLx9o3AqgZp9ZlW1qT371wPTNpXPRV4xoFamCyt5k0Qd3MuBFtdQN1yYOnWcwZ5Leo813Ug5rVnTv1WIp8wcAisPzI-Ig39IJ-pqd5uU8xsZQ/s320/20210903NeptuneStateScenicViewpointOnsite.png" width="320" /></a></div>Went to a short late summer vacation at Central Oregon Coast. Tried painting one late morning at Neptune State Scenic Viewpoint just south from Cape Perpetua, just north from I painted 3 years ago. About an hour has passed, my easel collapsed due to strong wind. I avoided it from fell down by quickly holding it (otherwise no picture of painting were available). I set it up again and tried continuing painting while kept holding the easel by left hand. But almost got collapsed again. So I gave up at that point. <br /><p></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795173754426406396.post-33967498427301651032021-08-15T22:27:00.000-07:002021-08-15T22:27:18.829-07:00Revisit Chuckanut Bay<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxYZLHEWce6TUFhyQKO8o22FolndolagRsHf0iVGrKFA4P3eNcA6gO2kAcLeYBqIe53xqnBsZAa3hiWhE1sJq-cdJMFtZXpF896c6iuuU4_XTyrvkEZHIVbLyQtfYsi-WnWQTCfroXSBQ/s1200/20210815ChuckanutBayOnsite.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="880" data-original-width="1200" height="235" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxYZLHEWce6TUFhyQKO8o22FolndolagRsHf0iVGrKFA4P3eNcA6gO2kAcLeYBqIe53xqnBsZAa3hiWhE1sJq-cdJMFtZXpF896c6iuuU4_XTyrvkEZHIVbLyQtfYsi-WnWQTCfroXSBQ/s320/20210815ChuckanutBayOnsite.png" width="320" /></a></div>I came back to Chuckanut Bay to paint on-site. Most of them are actually all greens but a little orangish due to sunset light. But some parts are actually orange color by themselves. Since orange and green are complementary colors, it's difficult to mix the final colors. Some kind of illusions are probably necessary, which I don't know how. <p></p><p>Instead I was working on adjusting shapes of vegetation based on values. I think I have to leave them for now and will work on refining three shapes to be more interesting next.<br /></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795173754426406396.post-18304153021039154122021-01-01T16:36:00.003-08:002021-01-01T16:37:49.586-08:00Last update for Seagul<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji_N2l9546KFXBHrqYPKzZUMaswVSX7quJ5btQ8rePCvHXP1pxp51oH0UxXnMvyJP8H8lbiifbdDqD_-8slhyphenhyphenoi4Xn0nO15TjL3dnOtggqDeUIcjYIlLeoPWksdbKjqDUmym5dSVzHjpU/s1000/20210101NoCalSeagul.png" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="842" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji_N2l9546KFXBHrqYPKzZUMaswVSX7quJ5btQ8rePCvHXP1pxp51oH0UxXnMvyJP8H8lbiifbdDqD_-8slhyphenhyphenoi4Xn0nO15TjL3dnOtggqDeUIcjYIlLeoPWksdbKjqDUmym5dSVzHjpU/w168-h200/20210101NoCalSeagul.png" width="168" /></a></div><br /> Started working on the detail shapes of the rocks. Also easy to miss proportional errors like head vs. body.<p></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795173754426406396.post-40352412259599549702020-10-18T21:52:00.005-07:002020-10-18T21:53:49.585-07:00Filling ocean<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9OTPC37a4gk75TdjPLQlOl7Uq3jnviDtEa-7KlE56mh_mdHAvjw5BHhn09JowqnifalW4L37rMjc8DIeL-kW_BDBCWSVy1SAuFcUYLdEfSHZrk_xct-mx9NYmN84mIhSs_7MMVSl0zgA/s1200/20201018NoCALSeagul.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1050" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9OTPC37a4gk75TdjPLQlOl7Uq3jnviDtEa-7KlE56mh_mdHAvjw5BHhn09JowqnifalW4L37rMjc8DIeL-kW_BDBCWSVy1SAuFcUYLdEfSHZrk_xct-mx9NYmN84mIhSs_7MMVSl0zgA/w175-h200/20201018NoCALSeagul.JPG" width="175" /></a></div><br /> I wanted to fill most of the ocean before defining the final rock shapes but encountered problems creating colors I wanted. The right side of the foreground ocean became olive green, which I need to fix one way or the other. But I'm not sure how to make the colors. I know I can't mix yellow, which I did and got olive green.<br /><p></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4795173754426406396.post-73351466408546879952020-10-04T10:05:00.001-07:002020-10-04T10:05:20.843-07:00Shaping vegetation<p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhaIVxw47wGSaY73oTAfGLCuyU1_8B9CMysJjTLXOI8okudO5V33wVcY-WfFqYMc0LEX2HX3aEn2vojyy2AqiOyDVbJib4jDoQHoSTUEEnSdECq4SuN1UGh2eO907MsLXDhShAKcrG5Sg/s1200/20201003DunesAtSunset.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="937" data-original-width="1200" height="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhaIVxw47wGSaY73oTAfGLCuyU1_8B9CMysJjTLXOI8okudO5V33wVcY-WfFqYMc0LEX2HX3aEn2vojyy2AqiOyDVbJib4jDoQHoSTUEEnSdECq4SuN1UGh2eO907MsLXDhShAKcrG5Sg/w200-h156/20201003DunesAtSunset.JPG" width="200" /></a>Trying to make shapes of vegetation on dunes in the foreground. Curving in the negative (sand) shapes are more effective (or require both) than refining the positive shapes for vegetation. It started popping up in the contrast.<br /></p><p><br /></p>ToshiEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848810236444839820noreply@blogger.com0
